single cab and crew cab versions.

The new range of Tata Daewoo tippers and tractors
is now available at Tata Automobile Corporation
(SA) dealerships. The Novus range of heavy commercial
vehicles is powered by 300 PS engines and will
have advanced telematics technology for vehicle
tracking and vehicle performance monitoring.

Tata Motors' MCV range is No. 2 in the South

Buses
Tata Motors buses are marketed and sold in a number
of African geographies including Zambia, South
Africa, Ghana and Mozambique. Tata Africa also
assembles a 18-seater bus called Tata Ubuntu.

Materials
and engineering
Tata Africa has a large railway wagon and steel
fabrication facility in Mozambique. Engineering
activities by companies like Tata De Moçambique
Lda and Cometal SARL include bus-body building
and assembly of vehicles, fabrication processes
like the manufacture of pot shells for aluminium
smelters, tanks for petroleum companies, grain
silos, and radial and modular gates for irrigation
systems. Other activities include infrastructure
projects where metal fabrication is required,
such as gates for canal systems and tanks for
petroleum companies.
A ferro-chrome project is
to be set up by Tata Steel (India) in Richards
Bay. The project is expected to cost Rand 650
million (Rs 460 crore) with a capacity of 120,000-tonne
per annum.

Hospitality
Tata Africa manages a five-star
hotel Taj Pamodzi in Zambia. A 193-key
hotel, some of the highlights of the hotel include
spacious deluxe and executive rooms with mini-bars
and balconies attached, three restaurants
the Jacaranda Coffee Shop, Steak 'n' Grills and
the Marula Bar fitness centres, sports facilities,
and a spa. The hotel also offers exceptional business
facilities with a business centre, high-speed internet
connectivity and secretarial services. |

Warehousing
and marketing
Tata Africa is engaged in the warehousing and
marketing of company products and those of other
reputed manufacturers. In general trading it deals
with products such as bicycles, steel, tyres,
water-treatment chemicals, pipes, roofing, steel
sheets, electrical supplies, school furniture
and miscellaneous projects.
Given the importance of mining in Africa, some
companies like Tata Ghana are engaged in supplying
mining parts and consumables. These include valves,
bearings, rubber linings, graphite electrodes
(used in cobalt processing) and seals.

IT
and communication
Consilience Technologies, a joint venture between
Tata Africa Holdings and J&J, a local group,
offers information technology services and solutions
to the South African IT industry. Tata Africa also
runs SNO, the second fixed line operator in South
Africa, which provides fixed-line national and international
voice, data and other value-added services such
as private leased circuits, IP virtual private networks,
and national and international leased lines.
With a firm grip on the international
data bandwidth space, the company is looking forward
to further growth in the services sector, including
ITES in South Africa.
