Tata Steel has set up Tata Steel KZN to manufacture high-carbon ferrochrome in a new plant in Richards Bay on the KwaZulu-Natal coast. The R650 million plant will produce 135,000 tonnes of high carbon ferrochrome every year. The ferrochrome, used in the manufacture of stainless steel, will be exported to Tata Steel customers in Asia, Europe and the United States.
